New Parent Information Meeting
Tuesday, July 25th, 5:30 pm at Summer Hill’s Chestnut Hill facility off Daniels Bridge Road.
At this meeting you will have the opportunity to learn more about our program, take a tour of the practice facility, and meet the coaches.
Group Descriptions for Non-competitive and Competitive
Our youngest beginner swimmers are in the Pod Squad. Designed for swimmers age 8 and under, this group will focus on balance in the water, streamlines, and swim breathing. Freestyle and backstroke are the two main focus strokes of this group. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend 2-3 practices per week.
This group practices 4:00-4:45 p.m. for Sessions 1 & 3 and 3:15-4:00 p.m. for Session 2, Monday-Friday.
This group is for swimmers age 9-10, with attention paid to balance in the water, streamlines, kicking, freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke kick and butterfly progression. Swimmers will also improve their technique through the use of drills and equipment such as fins, pull buoys, kickboards, paddles and snorkels. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend 2-3 practices per week.
This group practices 4:00-4:45 p.m. for Sessions 1 & 3 and 3:15-4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Junior and Senior Non-Competitive This group is designed for swimmers age 11 & older. Instruction is coach led and includes all competitive strokes, turns, starts, kicking, underwater training, stroke mechanics, and some endurance training. This training group is for swimmers who may or may not compete in swim meets, either at the club level or on a high school team. This training group places a priority on skill development and overall fitness. This group is ideal off-season training for summer league, middle school and high school swimmers (Oct-Feb). Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend 2-3 practices per week. This group practices 4:45-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday for Sessions 1 & 3.
For experienced swimmers age ten and under, the Junior Competitive squad will focus on the mechanics of all four competitive strokes, kicking, streamlines, starts and turns and an introduction to race pacing. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend all or most competitions on the competition schedule. This group practices from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
Advanced Junior Competitive
For experienced swimmers in the 11-12 age group, the Advanced Junior Competitive squad will focus on mastering balance and core drills, using the pace clock for interval training, race pacing without losing technical skill, building a high aerobic base and evolve from swim practice to swim training. The goal of swimmers in this group should be to achieve state level qualifying standards and prepare for entry into the senior level groups. Swimmers in this group are encouraged to attend all or most competitions on the competition schedule.
This group will train from 5:30-7:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
For experienced swimmers in the 13 & older age group, Senior 2 introduces swimmers to a higher level of training required to excel at the senior level. Primary goals of swimmers in this group should be to attend 4-5 practices per week and are strongly encouraged to attend all competitions on the competition schedule, competing in all standard distances offered. We do expect a wide range of physical, mental and motivational levels in this group and will coach according to the needs of each individual. This group will train from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday-Friday and 5:30-7:30 a.m., Tuesday & Thursday (by invitation of the coaching staff).
Senior 1 For experienced swimmers in the 13 & older age group, Senior 1 works to evolve the swimmer from learning to train to learning to achieve. The goal of this group is to form a cohesive training unit that will allow these swimmers to succeed at state, sectional and zone level prominence. Swimmers in this group are expected to participate in 5-6 practices per week and are strongly encouraged to attend all competitions on the competition schedule. This group will train from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Monday-Friday and 5:30-7:30 a.m., Tuesday & Thursday.
*Required Equipment for all swimmers: fins, kickboard, and goggles
